FINDLAY, Ohio -- COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE: CTB) is introducing four new Cooper brand premium products at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. These products all feature Cooper's latest technical innovations and will launch in 2011.
"In our highly competitive and fast paced industry, we believe a genuine competitive edge can be obtained from the commitment Cooper has to providing our customers with a consistent supply of innovative new products," said Steve Sawyer, Cooper Tire's director of brand and product management. "The launch of four new premium products in one year is an unprecedented move for Cooper, and we are excited about not only the products but the market opportunities that they will provide our customers."
The first of four new products on display is the Discoverer A/T3 – All Traction, All Terrain ... All the Time! Launching in April 2011, it is the latest addition to Cooper's SUV and light truck tire lines as a direct replacement for the Discoverer ATR. The A/T3 uses a balanced combination of technology, compounding and design to produce a tire that provides confident all terrain performance. Its silica tread compound increases treadwear, improves wet traction and helps resist cutting and chipping. The modern tread design significantly improves off road traction without sacrificing highway performance. The A/T3 will be available in 30 SUV sizes and 32 light truck sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inch rim diameters.
Also on display, the new Discoverer S/TMAXX that will replace the successful Discoverer S/T-C and selected sizes of the Discoverer S/T. The S/TMAXX will feature Cooper’s proven and reliable 3-ply "Armor-Tek3" carcass construction, a new proprietary cut and chip resistant tread compound and a progressive tread design. With this combination, the S/T MAXX is destined to be a true commercial grade traction tire that will perform in the toughest terrains. This tire provides maxx toughness and traction with no compromises. Launching in February 2011, it will be available in 8 sizes ranging from 16 to 18 inch rim diameters.
Cooper will also unveil the Cooper Zeon RS3-A, which replaces the current Cooper Zeon Sport A/S. The RS3-A is the latest ultra-high performance all-season tire within the Cooper performance family. Combining large tread elements and asymmetric design, it provides all-season confidence in less-than-ideal weather conditions. The RS3-A's silica tread compound is designed for exceptional all season driving performance, while its advanced technology mold profile provides a square tread footprint, providing more tread-to-road contact. The RS3-A will be initially offered in 31 sizes and will launch April 2011. Additional sizes are scheduled for later in the year.
Also debuting in the Cooper booth is the Cooper Zeon RS3-S, replacing the current Cooper Zeon 2XS. The RS3-S is the latest ultra-high performance summer tire within the Cooper performance family. Building on the technology and performance of the Roush RS3 tire, the RS3-S offers a low-profile, high performance rating which combines world-class dry road traction, increased handling and exceptional cornering ability. Its silica tread compound is designed to provide superior wet driving performance, while the durable uniform tire construction delivers a crisp, tight steering response. The RS3-S will be available in 21 sizes and will launch April 2011.
The Cooper Tire booth can be found in the South Hall Booth No. 43009.
